Abstract

Phylogeny keeps track of the relationships between different objects, whether they be genetic codes of species, syntax of grammar, or manuscripts of literature. By immersing ourselves in visual imagery, we show how to create and navigate spaces of phylogenetic trees, which are appearing in areas such as representation theory, geometric group theory, tropical geometry, and homotopy theory.
