Giving to CCMS

Welcome to the Claremont Center for the Mathematical Sciences (CCMS). This is our giving page where making a gift is easy, fast, and secure! CCMS raises funds to support the collaborative projects undertaken by the center that will enhance mathematics scholarship within the Claremont Colleges, within our region, nationally and internationally.

We have made various ways for your convenience in supporting us. Please click on one of the options below for more information.

Option 1: Pay by Check

Please make your check payable to

Option 2: Pay by Credit Card

We are using CGU's secure online payment facility for credit card donations.  Your donation to CCMS however, will be sent directly to CCMS.  Once you finish the online payment procedure, you will receive a gift receipt for tax purposes as well as a gift acknowledgement from CCMS.

Click here to open the online payment website. You will be redirected to a secure server. Please choose a giving option, either “Recurring Donation” or “Donate Now.” On the following page enter your donation amount in the “Amount” box.  For “Gift Designation” please select The Claremont Center for Mathematical Sciences in the list of options.
Option 3: Payroll Deduction

Please contact your Human Resources Department about making a monthly payroll deduction, specifying our CCMS account. Your HR representative may contact Michael Avila for CCMS account information at (909) 607-9224, or by email michael.avila@cgu.edu.
Option 4: Pay by Cash

Cash donations may be made through a Wire Transfer:

Option 5: Gift of Stock

Gifts of appreciated stock can yield tax benefits because they are deductible from your income tax at their fair market value.  This kind of gift would avoid capital gains tax that would otherwise result from selling the stock and then using the cash to make your gift to the College.  Gifts of appreciated assets could be deductible in amounts up to 30% of adjusted gross income, and any excess deductions may be carried over for use in the future. This is not tax advice; please consult with your tax advisor or preparer to see if donating stock is right for you.

Stock may be donated in one of the following ways to CCMS:

  1. By electronic transfer (via DTC) of the shares between your broker and Claremont Graduate University’s broker, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.  Stock transferred in this fashion is valued on the date of the transfer- the date it moves into the CCMS account. Please inform your broker of your intent to make a gift of stock. We will need your broker’s name and telephone number as well as the name of the stock and the number of shares you wish to transfer.  In order to ensure that the transaction is completed accurately and efficiently, please either email this information to give@cgu.edu or mail it to: Planned Giving, CCMS, 165 E. 10th Street, Jagels Building, Suite 203, Claremont, CA 91711.
  2. By sending stock certificates and a stock certificate power to CCMS in separate envelopes to "Planned Giving, CCMS, 165 E. 10th Street, Jagels Building, Suite 203, Claremont, CA 91711."  The value of the gift for tax purposes is calculated using the date of the postmark on the envelope. For stock certificates registered in your name, a signed stock certificate power is required to allow the stock to be sold by a CGU stock broker.  Your signature must be Medallion guaranteed.  Leave the rest of the certificate blank, including the name of the transferee.
