Cyclotomic extensions of the rational function field over a finite field

In number theory, a cyclotomic field is a number field obtained by adjoining a root of unity to Q, the field of rational numbers. In this expository talk I will describe in detail the analogous situation in the case that Q is replaced by the rational function field k(T) where k is a finite field.
