Abstract:

When a finite group G acts on a finite set X, the group G also acts naturally on the vector space C(X) of complex-valued functions defined on X. In this talk, I will explain how one might efficiently analyze such functions by taking advantage of nested "frequency spaces" and their associated bases in C(X). This is joint work with Michael Hansen and Masanori Koyama.
