Abstract:

For a few years now, several of my students and I have been looking at voting theory through an algebraic lens in an effort to reinterpret and extend some of the "big ideas" in the field. In this talk, I'll discuss some of the new insights we've gained, describe some simple but interesting connections to statistics, and share some open questions that we still have.
