Abstract:

Siegel's lemma and Cassels' theorem, classical tools in Diophantine approximation, concern the existence of points of bounded height in linear spaces and quadratic spaces respectively. I will discuss generalizations of these results over global fields, with additional algebraic conditions placed on the points, and to linear subspaces of bounded height of quadratic spaces. This is joint work with my Ph.D. advisors W. K. Chan and L. Fukshansky.
